Welcome!
I post book reviews as often as possible but at least once a week every Wednesday! I hope they help you to find some new books that you'll love as much as I did!
The Synopsis
‘There you have it—’ Miss Dimont smiled and, lifting
her dark glasses, turned to face the trainee reporter ‘—in a nutshell. A mystery death. Needs looking into, wouldn’t you say?’ Death stalks the beaches of Devon With its pale, aquamarine waters and golden sands, the shoreline at Temple Regis was a sight to behold. But when an unidentifiable body is found there one morning, the most beautiful beach in Devon is turned into a crime scene. For Miss Dimont – ferocious defender of free speech, champion of the truth and ace newspaperwoman for The Riviera Express – this is a case of paramount interest, and the perfect introduction for her young new recruit Valentine Waterford. Even if their meddling is to the immense irritation of local copper Inspector Topham… Soon Miss Dimont and Valentine are deep in investigation – why can nobody identify the body, and why does Topham suspect murder? And when a second death occurs, can the two possibly be connected? My Review
After reading Riviera Express and really enjoying it, I couldn't wait to dive straight in to Resort to Murder.
It's the second delightful book in the series and while it can be read as a standalone, I think it's greatly enhanced by reading Riviera Express too, as the colourful and well-developed cast of characters who make a reappearance feel really familiar now. Miss Dimont is once again wonderfully clever and eccentric and she really makes this classic whodunnit come alive. The book is set in Devon which is beautifully described and makes for the perfect setting for this light-hearted, cosy crime. With an engaging and entertaining storyline, this book kept me reading and guessing the whole way through. If you fancy a classic whodunnit and an enjoyable, light-hearted read, I'd definitely recommend giving this series a go. Overall I'd give Resort To Murder 4 out of 5. It was witty and well-written with a fantastically cosy mystery and I'm looking forward to reading more about Miss Dimont in future!
